Yankee's: Not so much a dynasty anymore

The rumors are clear: A-Rod wants out of the Yankee's. Apparently he is just sick and tired of the Yankee's. In reality "Rodriguez made his choice because he was uncertain whether Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, and Andy Pettitte would return to the Yankee's." http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-spw-arod29oct29,1,1447501.story?coll=la-headlines-sports&track=crosspromo It seems as though the once unbeatable dream team for the past fifteen years might be falling apart quicker then you can read "Yankee's" on a fan's cheap t-shirt. It has been said that A-Rod made his decision not to return even before Joe Torre was to be announced as leaving. I do not really see how this all is happening so fast. In my opinion I think everyone of those superstars who played for the Yankee's these past couple of seasons just wants to be the only superstar on a different team. I think these players are sick of being told that they are "supposed" to win the world series every year. I don't care who you are there is no way that you can honestly be expected to win every single world series every year. The funny thing about A-Rod's situation is that he loses the 72 million dollars of guaranteed money from his contract. I bet thats gotta hurt the ole superstar. In my opinion I hope the Yankee's go down in flames and become one of the worst teams in the leauge. It's time for new teams to step up to the plate and deliver. The Yankee's could possibly be no more....

I couldn't agree with you more Hammersmith. I too would love to see the Yankees struggle tremendously for as log as possible. To be honest I think A-Rod will be better off with another team. Yes, this year he put up MVP numbers but this was in the regualr season. A-Rod proved once again this year he cannot be clutch in the playoffs and that deep down he really can't handle the pressure of being a player in New York City. On the other hand, the Yankees are better off without him too. In the past the Yankees have been known to be a great playoff team and I don't think that A-Rod is a player that helps support the Yankees reputation of being clutch in the postseason. If you recall the Yankees have won four World Series without him on their roster. Given A-Rod is the best player in the league he simply just isn't suited to be a Yankee in my opinion. One thing is definitely for certain with the loss of future Hall of Fame manager Joe Torre and the loss of their best regualr season performer the future of the Yankees isn't looking to promising, and I can't say that I'm almost in tears because of it.

I don not think the Yankees are going to be on of the worst teams in the league mainly because its the Yankees. At the beginning of the year no one even thought they were going to make the playoffs at all. I think they are going to go out and buy their usual players and try to scrape things together. I have confidence the Yankees will manage. I know A-rod is gone but i think it is the best for the Yankees and it is time they moved on. A-rod will never win in the playoffs no matter how good his team is. I think the Yankees will be dismal but not out.

I am one of the people who disagree with the way Alex Rodriguez was treated in New York. I’m not disagreeing with the facts that show him lacking playoff production and an obvious lack of clutch ability. I am simply stating the Yankees are not dominating the baseball world anymore and if it weren’t for what A-Rod brought to the team in the regular season, they probably wouldn’t have even got a chance to make the playoffs. With this said, I also feel that the loss of Torre is not all that significant because I feel that baseball managers are highly overrated. Either way, the point is that yes, the Yankees dynasty is done.

As a RedSox fan, this is one of the best posts I have ever read. In all seriousness though, I agree with you that the Yankee dynasty is falling apart. To steal a TV show title, “the Bronx is burning.” The loss of teamwork has led New York to become a self centered squad which expects to win as individuals. There is no camaraderie like that of the 2004 RedSox, who won mostly on hard work and determination. Is that to say that team had no superstars? Not at all. But they worked as a team. The Yankees have so many superstars and personalities that it is hard for them to win. I don’t agree that New York will become a bottom feeder. However, I would not expect to see the same dominance that they had in the 90’s and early part of this decade for some time. Good post, Nick.
